Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and include several relevant figures, such as private studios at 48%, college-based studios at 10%, and the under-11 ballet figure of about 600. You also identify the broad contrast that modern is more popular among 11–16-year-olds. However, the overview is not clearly separated or fully accurate: the final sentence focuses on private studios and ballet rather than summarising the main patterns across both charts. Some comparisons are misreported: ballet for the older group is about 300, not 350; tap is higher among 11–16-year-olds (about 420) than under-11s (450 is slightly higher, so this comparison should be checked against the chart); and modern is about 520 versus 300. Select the clearest contrasts and report them precisely to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about locations, a paragraph about dance types, and a concluding sentence. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Furthermore” help signal the shift between chart topics. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, and the conclusion repeats details rather than drawing together the main findings. Several sentences also combine multiple points without clear links, particularly the discussion of ballet and tap, so the reader has to work out which age group is being compared. Use clearer topic sentences and organise the dance figures by comparison—for example, state which age group leads in each style—while using linking phrases selectively.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “location,” “age group,” and the dance-style names, so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “wide range of private studios are shown” and “shown more interest,” which make the description less natural. Spelling errors—including “illustatres,” “diffirent,” “collage,” and “decerese”—also reduce clarity and control. Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “was the most popular,” and “the number of students,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid repeating “shown” and “people” when describing the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including comparisons between age groups, but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in phrases such as “types of dances which is perform” and “the numbers of students was.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also weak: the long sentence beginning “Ballet type was seen most…” joins several ideas without clear separation, while commas are often missing after introductory words. Articles and plural forms are sometimes inaccurate as well. Build comparisons with a reliable pattern, such as “Among under-11s, ballet had about 600 students, compared with 300 in the older group.” Then check each sentence for a clear subject, verb, and punctuation.
