Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify both chart topics and report several relevant figures, including the 48% share for private studios and the age-group figures for ballet and tap. However, the response only partially summarises the main features. The overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate claim that ballet has more students than the other styles overall: ballet leads among under-11s, while modern is highest for ages 11–16. The figures for modern are also misreported: the chart shows about 520 students aged 11–16, not 525, and about 300 under 11. The location comparison that college-based studios have the lowest share is accurate, but the opening description mistakenly refers to adults rather than young people. A clearer overview of the contrasting age-group preferences would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, discusses the location chart, and then turns to the dance types. Paragraphing helps distinguish these areas, and words such as “while” and “Furthermore” attempt to connect comparisons. However, there is no clear overall progression because the overview is mixed with details and repeated in the final sentence. Several links are awkward or unclear, as in “the college-based studios location is lower percentage the all others,” and the final sentence repeats the dominance of private studios without adding a new comparison. Grouping the location figures together and then comparing the two age groups by dance style, with a concise overview first, would make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “age group,” “private studios,” and “dominating,” so the reader can recognise the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “nevigation” for “location,” “accepted” where “accounted for” may be intended, and “have more capacity” when describing a larger proportion. Spelling errors such as “Austrailia,” “Priavte,” and “comunity” are also noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural phrases for describing charts, such as “accounted for,” “had the highest proportion,” and “the number of students,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including comparisons with “while” and “Furthermore,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and agreement appear in examples such as “Ballet dance class have more students” and “Modern dance class have 525 students.” Articles and plural forms are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “the dance class” and “school halls is accepted less.” Some sentences run together or lack clear punctuation, particularly the long sentence beginning “The location of the dance class according to the pie chart.” These problems sometimes make relationships between figures hard to follow. Practise building short, complete comparison sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses and punctuation.
