Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's modern world, widespread inventions in technology have changed the landscape and nature of business. Through imports and exports, different countries exchange their goods and can earn a good profit. In my opinion, its a positive development because it provide exposure of different goods and fulfill the needs of food resources for non-agricultural countries.
Many countries have barren land and they can't produce agricultural resources like wheat, rice and sugarcane. They totally rely on import for these basic food resources. Especially, Saudia Arabia, UAE and other Middle-East countries spend heavier amounts on import and provide opportunities to agricultural countries to make profit through it. Meanwhile, some countries economy totally depend on agriculture resources and they export our resources to other countries.
Furthermore, import food items give more choices to consumers and create more business opportunities for supermarkets and other online stores. Government chargeed high amount of duty on imported products and generate a huge amount of revenue through it. Diverse food resoruces also expand the resturant business. For instance, in past centuries, they have only limited options, but now, Italian, Chinese and several food options available in resturants. According to recent studies and date, majority of imported food resoruces used in resturant chains and contributing a huge amount in economy as well.
In conclusion, import and export of food resoruces create business opportunities and fuflill the needs of non-agriculutral counties. It's a positive development, many countries totally rely on imports for food resources and several generate revenue through it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability positive, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons, including meeting the needs of countries with limited agricultural production and offering consumers more choice. The examples of Middle Eastern countries and international restaurant cuisines help make the discussion concrete. However, the economic points are not always fully explained: for example, the claim that import duties generate revenue would benefit from a clearer link to the overall positive impact, and the restaurant example focuses more on dining options than on food sold in supermarkets. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a specific explanation or example and keep the discussion closely tied to the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from food supply to consumer choice and economic benefits, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “For instance” help signal these moves. This gives the essay a coherent arrangement. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. “Meanwhile” introduces a related point but does not clearly show how it contrasts with the preceding sentence, while “According to recent studies and date” leads into a broad claim without identifying the evidence. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and make sure each paragraph develops one clearly connected line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “imports and exports,” “agricultural resources,” “consumers,” and “revenue,” which allows you to discuss trade and food availability. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “generate a huge amount of revenue.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “resoruces,” “resturant,” and “date” appear in place of the intended forms, and “spend heavier amounts” is an unnatural collocation. Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “widespread inventions in technology” when the point is about advances in technology. Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose specific terms rather than repeating broad phrases such as “food resources.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because it provide exposure” and a contrast introduced by “but now.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is incorrect in “it provide” and “import food items give”; the latter also needs a grammatical form such as “imported food items give.” There are problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “It's a positive development, many countries…,” where the ideas should be joined with a conjunction or separated into two sentences. The sentence beginning “According to recent studies” also has an unclear grammatical structure. Review agreement, articles and punctuation, then practise combining clauses accurately so that your range is supported by more consistently controlled sentences.
