Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you consider worldwide food availability positive. You give relevant reasons, including year-round access to imported food, convenience, time savings, and benefits to businesses and the economy. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained with specific examples or developed consequences; for instance, the claim that supermarkets “boost our gdp and economey” is not supported. The discussion also shifts to clothes and household goods, which does not directly strengthen the argument about food. The response is 248 words, so it falls two words short of the 250-word minimum; the 16 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Develop the food-related reasons more fully and include a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, three reason-led paragraphs, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly” help signal the main points. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from past travel to food imports, storage, shopping in different stores, and time savings without clearly separating or connecting these ideas. Several sentences run together, and repeated references to supermarkets and saving time make the argument feel repetitive. Use clearer sentence boundaries and organise each paragraph around one main reason, followed by an explanation or example. More precise referencing would also help readers follow what “these foods” and “all of these” refer to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “import,” “foreign food,” “international businesses,” and “job opportunities,” and the reader can generally identify your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “any type of food,” “supermarkets,” and “save time.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “neumerous,” “oppertunities,” and “economey,” as well as inaccurate word choices and collocations, including “cooling chambers” for storage facilities and “kitchen usage things.” These errors sometimes make the message harder to understand. Build a more precise range for discussing availability, convenience, and economic effects, and check spelling and natural word combinations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to express reasons and comparisons, including a contrast between the past and present, but the range of sentence structures is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. For example, “people can buy different type of food other countries through the supermarket” lacks necessary grammatical elements, while “In past individuals need any type of food they were travel” combines clauses without a clear structure and uses an incorrect verb form. There are also recurring problems with articles, plurals, agreement, and punctuation, as in “supermarkets saves our important time.” These errors can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then connect them with clauses using correct tense and punctuation.
