Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, in many nations, people can visit supermarket and buy imported food. I believe this is a positive development because of many reasons such as they can have access to international food easily, can taste food from different countries in your home country, and can taste out of season food.

One positive development is that imported food is easily available in your home country. People can have taste of other countries food. Most people get tired of their same food all the time and they want to try something new so due to imported food, now it is easy. For instance, people in asia can try the bread of turkey which is imported in their country. Moreover, there is no need for people to go other countries for their local dish. In previous times, if people want to explore other countries food they have to travel to that country but now, all food is imported and they can have taste of them in their own home country.

Second reason can be that seasonal fruits are available throughout the year. For example, if in one country orange is out of season then still people can get access to oranges as they are improted from other counties where orange season is in. People have access to out season fruits and vegtables. Moreover, people now have many options to select food as they are all from different cultures.

In conclusion, buying imported food is positive development as people have many options to try from different countries cultures and all food is easily accessible to everyone. Moreover, people do not have to travel to explore international food cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider access to international food and year-round availability positive. Both points are relevant, and the examples of Turkish bread and oranges imported from countries where they are in season help illustrate them. The conclusion also restates your view. However, the first main point repeats the idea of trying other countries’ food several times, while the second point about seasonal produce is only briefly explained. The claim that imported food is “easily accessible to everyone” is also broader than the examples support. Develop each reason more fully—for instance, explain how wider choice benefits consumers, or acknowledge a possible drawback before reaffirming your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “One positive development,” “Second reason,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectations securely, and the paragraphing is appropriate. To make the organisation more flexible and polished, reduce repeated links and ideas: “Moreover” appears in both body paragraphs, and the first paragraph returns several times to the benefit of tasting foreign food. Some references, such as “they” in “they can have taste of them,” are not fully clear. Use more precise referencing and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “imported food,” “seasonal fruits,” “out of season,” and “cultures.” However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “food,” “people,” and “taste,” and several expressions are not natural or precise: “have taste of other countries food,” “explore other countries food,” and “all food is imported.” Spelling errors such as “improted,” “counties,” and “vegtables” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of natural collocations for discussing food availability and consumer choice, and check spelling and possessive forms. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish imported products, international cuisine, and seasonal produce.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause in “Most people get tired of their same food all the time and they want to try something new so…” and a conditional example about oranges being out of season. The main meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “visit supermarket” needs an article, “if people want … they have to travel” shifts tense, and “if in one country orange is out of season” has an awkward clause structure and singular/plural mismatch. There are also punctuation and spacing problems, such as the comma joined directly to “now.” Practise accurate articles, agreement, and conditional sentence patterns, then proofread punctuation while retaining your attempts at longer structures.
