Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many countries nowadays, People can go to a supermarket and purchase produced food all over the world.

The main idea is that global food in supermarkets gives people more choice to access to different foods, but it can harm local farmers and increase envurinmental pollution.

Firstly, when global food will have access or availability in our local markets it is more beneficial for our peoples they can have access all the year. more variety can be consumed customers will not face difficulties and import from foreign countries. like in pakistan avocado is not available in our country we have to import from other countries it is beneficial for our health improvement and have positive effects on our immune system when we have access in our local market it can help us providing healthy life.

Secondly, it can have negative affect on our local farmers which can affect our economy badly in result of economy collapse and transportation of these foods or imported items can cause environmental pollution. When transporting from karachi to lahore it will consume fuel in huge number of liters lahore does not have any port and major supermarkets are in lahore.

Accessability of these imported food or items can have both negative and positive impacts as every other person have their own point of view. In my opinion it is a great development of having availability of imported items or food in your country for your consumers facility it will have a good positive impact on them also and they can access their desired foods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the issue by noting that imported food offers consumers more choice and year-round access, while potentially harming local farmers and increasing pollution. Your final paragraph also makes your position clear: you consider the development positive. However, the discussion is only partially developed. The avocado example explains a possible health benefit, but the link between imported food and improved health is asserted rather than supported. The point about local farmers is brief, and the transport example focuses on Karachi and Lahore without fully explaining the wider environmental impact. Develop each main reason with clearer explanation and relevant support, and make your positive judgement explicit from the introduction onward to strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Secondly” help signal the main points, and the conclusion returns to your overall view. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the first body paragraph moves from availability to variety, importing avocados, and health benefits without clearly connecting each step. The second combines effects on farmers, the economy, and transport pollution in a compressed sequence. Some links are also awkward or incomplete, such as “more variety can be consumed customers.” Organise each paragraph around one clear claim, then explain and illustrate it in a logical order, using linking phrases accurately.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “local farmers,” “import,” “transportation,” “environmental pollution,” and “availability.” These terms show that you can discuss the central issue, but the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes your meaning less clear. Examples include “our peoples,” “positive effects on our immune system,” and “facility” where you appear to mean convenience. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “envurinmental” and “Accessability.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general words such as “food,” “items,” and “access” with suitable alternatives would also make the discussion more fluent and specific.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a contrast between benefits and drawbacks and a conditional idea about access to imported food. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation frequently interrupt the flow. For example, “when global food will have access” has an incorrect structure, while “it is more beneficial for our peoples they can have access all the year” joins ideas without a clear grammatical link. Capitalisation and sentence boundaries are also unreliable, as in “more variety can be consumed customers will not face difficulties.” Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses with correct verb forms and punctuation. This will make your ideas easier to understand.
