Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is widely believed that many countries around the world, customers can go to convenience store and purchase food that manufactured all around the globe. Although this trend may bring about certain arguments between public, I firmly believe that it is a positive development due to it provides consumers greater choice and promotes international economic growth.
The primary reason of why I consider this as a positive development is people had access to wider range of foods. In the past, consumers are restricted with foods that locally made products, which meant that some types of food could only be purchased on specific seasons. However, development of international trade has allowed supermarkets to supply friuts, vegetables and other foods regardless of geographical difficulties. As a result, people can maintain balanced diet and variety of foods. For instance, countries with cold climates could easily buy products that cannot grown on their region.
Another significant benefit of this trend is that it contributes economic development by strenghtening global trading relationships. When supermarkets import food products, farmers and food producers around the world. This can provide developing countries with additional sources of income and support improvements in agricultural production. A example of this can be seen in countries that export coffee, fruits, or seafood, where international demand has helped support local communities.
To conclude, while the international availability of food may create challenges for domestic producers, I strongly believe that it is a beneficial development overall. This is because it gives consumers greater access to diverse products and creates valuable economic opportunities for food-producing countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the trend is positive. The ideas are relevant, focusing on consumer choice and economic growth. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the second body paragraph mentions that importing food supports developing countries, but it lacks a specific, concrete example to fully illustrate this point, as the sentence 'When supermarkets import food products, farmers and food producers around the world' is grammatically incomplete. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'However', 'As a result', and 'In addition' are used to link ideas. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or where referencing is unclear. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is functional but could be smoother. The use of cohesive devices is generally effective, but there is occasional repetition of structure, which prevents the essay from reaching the highest band for cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'international trade', 'geographical difficulties', and 'agricultural production'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing or minor errors, such as 'arguments between public' (should be 'among the public') and 'cannot grown on their region' (should be 'cannot be grown in their region'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word choice and collocation to achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ('a balanced diet'), incorrect verb forms ('food that manufactured' instead of 'food that is manufactured'), and incomplete sentences ('When supermarkets import food products, farmers and food producers around the world'—this lacks a main clause). While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors, particularly with verb tense and sentence construction, limits the score. More attention to proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and sentence completeness is recommended.
