Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of international food is a positive development. The ideas are relevant, focusing on cultural exchange and economic benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding 'maxico' and 'india' is quite simplistic and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations of how these global trade links specifically impact the average consumer or the broader economy. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the transition between the cultural benefits and the physical differences of individuals. Additionally, some punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, disrupt the visual flow of the text. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent punctuation would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'global village', 'civilizations', 'mutual relationships', and 'harmony'. There are some spelling errors (e.g., 'counteries', 'bussiness', 'realtionships', 'maxico', 'barly') and occasional word choice inaccuracies, such as 'digestion system' instead of 'digestive system'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure you proofread for common spelling mistakes, as these currently limit your ability to access the higher band descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Import and export is really creates', 'maxico have tomatoes') and article usage ('other part of world'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing spaces after punctuation marks. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the essay. To achieve a higher score, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles and prepositions to ensure that your complex structures are more accurate.
