Student answer (Band 6.5)

The resources in this world to be utilized by humans are not concentrated in a specific area of land rather they are scattered throughout the planet. One part of the earth may contain natural resources that the others may not and vice versa. Therefore, People living in different corners of the world must have access to all kinds of facilities descended or blessed by nature. I personally believe that having items of essential needs available at a supermarket has positively impacted people's lives.

International relations and political ties of world countries have made this possible by the development of trade corridors. In this way, countries lacking certain resources can get them imported from the ones who are in abundance of those facilities. From artillery and parts of aircrafts to fabric and edible items, almost everything can be procured through import-export channels. It has, nowadays, become so convenient to even acquire non-native food items from a nearby super store, all by the virtue of diplomatic connections among countries. One of the major advantages of things being available at a supermarket is that individuals do not have to wait for days, or sometimes for months, to obtain a certain product. This saves their time and obviates the experience of trouble. For instance, wheat being the the integral and regular part of our diet is necessary to be made available at supermarket to avoid people from being troubled.

In conclusion, having essentials available at nearby stores not only saves time but also serves humanity by preventing people from getting troubled, setting grounds for a better world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by arguing that the global availability of food is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention international relations and convenience, the arguments remain quite general and lack specific, illustrative examples beyond a brief mention of wheat. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the economic or social implications of this global trade, perhaps discussing the impact on local farmers or the environmental cost of food miles, which would provide a more balanced and thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Therefore', 'In this way', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the transition between the general concept of natural resources and the specific topic of supermarkets is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some sentences feel slightly disconnected. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that the flow between sentences is smoother by using a wider variety of linking words and referencing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'procured', 'diplomatic connections', and 'obviates'. However, there are some instances of slightly unnatural collocations or word choices, such as 'facilities descended or blessed by nature' and 'avoid people from being troubled'. These do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more academic phrasing to convey your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the the integral' (repetition) and 'the ones who are in abundance of those facilities' (awkward phrasing). While these errors are present, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To achieve a higher band, aim for more consistent control over complex structures and proofread carefully to eliminate minor slips like repeated words or incorrect preposition usage.
