Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of global food in supermarkets is a positive development. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. While you mention variety, convenience, and discounts, the development of these points is limited. For instance, you mention that it saves time and effort, but you could have expanded on the economic or cultural implications of global food trade to reach a higher band. The response is consistent in its stance, but the supporting arguments remain at a surface level, which limits the overall impact of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'It has amazing experience for people to purchase items from supermarkets.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically builds upon the previous one would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'buy food', 'products', and 'supermarkets'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'excessive amount of discount' (which sounds unnatural) and 'simply purchase it' (which lacks a clear subject). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to global trade, consumerism, and logistics to demonstrate a wider lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'a choice for people can buy any food items' and 'it helps to people save money'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. While your meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence structure and proofreading for basic grammatical slips will be beneficial.
