Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 139 words. Consequently, the ideas are significantly underdeveloped. While the essay attempts to address both positive and negative aspects, the arguments are presented as brief, disjointed lists rather than fully extended points. The position is stated but lacks the depth and supporting evidence required for a higher band. To improve, you must expand each point with explanations, examples, and logical consequences to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', and 'On the other hand' to structure the paragraphs. However, the progression of ideas is mechanical and lacks logical flow. The paragraphing is present, but the content within the paragraphs is fragmented, consisting of short, simple sentences that do not connect well to form a cohesive argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence builds upon the previous one to create a smooth, logical narrative throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good', 'buy', and 'products'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word forms, such as 'expire products' instead of 'expired products' and 'given mrp price' which is unclear. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to global trade and consumerism, and pay closer attention to word forms and parts of speech.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('at one place' instead of 'in one place'), incorrect verb forms ('consumer might given' instead of 'consumers might be given'), and issues with subject-verb agreement ('buying food products... is increased'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing and comma usage. To improve, you need to practice constructing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions and ensure greater accuracy in basic grammar, such as tense consistency and article usage.
