Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent years, it has become popular to buy a variety of foods produce around the world from a supermarket in many countries. In my opinion, the trend is advantageous for people as they get variety of options in terms of taste and price.
One main advantage is that consumers are now able to buy a food packet in different tastes. This is because different brands around the world introduce their foods in different tastes and ingredients which makes it easier for people to buy according to their preference, suitability, and food which is made according to their specific taste. Moreover, they can choose an option which is more suitable for their health such as sugar free beverages for people who suffer from diabetes. For instance, some people like to consume sugary beverages and some are supportive to their favourite fruit or vegetable tastes. This enables them to buy according to their preference.
Another major benefit is that people can buy food according to their budget by choosing affordable options for them. They have another option that they can get food packed in different sizes from small to medium and to large which help them to maintain their finance. For instance, some brands produce expensive food and some affordable according to used ingredients, packaging, and effort. Furthermore, foods which produce around the world are now easily available at the supermarket and this provides ease to people that they do not have to rush and depressed travelling shop to shop or they do not have to place order and wait for some day for delivery. They can easily buy food at any time from the supermarket in their surrounding area.
In conclusion, it is beneficial for people that a variety of foods are now easily available at the supermarket which they can buy according their budget, suitable size of food, and desired taste.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the trend is positive. The ideas are relevant, focusing on variety, health options, and convenience. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on 'taste' and 'preference' in the second paragraph overlaps significantly. While the response covers all parts of the task, the arguments could be more nuanced by exploring potential drawbacks (such as environmental impact or local economic effects) to provide a more balanced and sophisticated perspective, which is expected at higher band levels.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. Referencing is generally clear, but the repetition of phrases like 'buy according to their preference' and 'buy according to their budget' makes the progression feel a bit circular rather than advancing the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is a heavy reliance on basic terms like 'buy', 'food', and 'different'. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'depressed travelling shop to shop' or 'supportive to their favourite fruit'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is a lack of sophisticated or topic-specific terminology that would elevate the response. Improving word choice and using more precise synonyms would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and articles, such as 'foods produce around the world' (should be 'produced') and 'wait for some day' (should be 'some days'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage also show inconsistency. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
