Student answer (Band 7.0)
In recent years it’s become more common for consumers to purchase food that is manufactured in different state from their supermarkets while this has precise drawbacks but I believe it’s a positive development.
The main advantage of being able to buy imported food is the increased variety and quality of choice accessible to customers. In the past decades the people were limited to seasonal fruits and vegetables they have to wait for next season to get their desired food. Nowadays supermarkets offers a variety of food from all over the world. For example In the Pakistan residents can buy the kiwis from New Zealand and avocados from Mexico.
Furthermore the international food trade benefits the global economy. Farmers and producers in developing countries can export their goods and earn a valuable income. This strategy generated a jobs and reduce the poverty in rural areas. For instance the export of mangoes from
Pakistan to Uk and coffee from Thailand to Pakistan give livelihood to million of people.
However there are some negative impact to this development as well. Transporting food all over the world takes longer distance to travel causes the carbon emissions and environmental damage.
In addition depends on the imported food can harm the farmers credits and their struggle
In conclusion although there are many concerns like environmental and economical that are associated with purchasing of imported foods from around the world The benefits in terms of variety quality and desire nutrition and global economies offset the disadvantages. Therefore I consider it to a positive development overall.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the development is positive. The ideas regarding variety, economic benefits, and environmental concerns are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat uneven. For example, the point about 'farmers credits' is unclear and underdeveloped. While the main arguments are present, they could benefit from more detailed explanation or more sophisticated examples to reach a higher band. The position is maintained throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', 'However', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive. The use of referencing is mostly effective, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to minor errors in punctuation and sentence structure. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the logical flow of ideas is maintained throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'offset', 'livelihood', and 'environmental damage'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'manufactured in different state' (instead of 'countries') and 'desire nutrition' (instead of 'desired' or 'nutritional value'). Some phrasing is slightly awkward, but these errors do not impede communication. A wider range of precise vocabulary would be needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the Pakistan', 'the Uk'), subject-verb agreement ('supermarkets offers'), and prepositional usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear, and the errors do not significantly impede the reader's understanding. To improve, the writer should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and article usage.
