Student answer (Band 7.0)
Food is considered a basic need of human beings. In many countries nowadays, consumers prefer to buy food which is were produced all across the world. This essay will evaluate whether this development is positive or negative and give reason to strengthen my stand.
To begin with, many people wants to try out new dishes or food of different countries. Although, the imported food are relatively quite expensive in comparison of local food, individuals with high income still prefer to try that. Moreover, the availability of variety of food gives more options to the consumers. For instance, in Canada, there is a huge community of Indians. So they widely prefer to go to that place where many sort of Indian food are available. which eventually helps the supermarket owners to attract new customers. Furthermore, it can also benefit to that country which exports that food. And a large amount of export of food can make great impact on economy.
On the other hand, the increasing import export of food leads to increase the transportation. The increased transportation not only requires for more fuel but also cause for growth in pollution. In addition, the transportation also requires for better packaging which requires many layers of polythene and cardboard or wooden boxes.
In conclusion, the increase of pollution should not be overlooked. But as it gives as many benefits, I believe that it is a positive development. Simultaneously, government should focus on to find ways to reduce pollution in terms of air pollution and the excessive use of plastic for packaging.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding consumer choice and economic benefits are relevant, as is the counter-argument regarding environmental impact. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the point about the Canadian Indian community is a good start but could be expanded to better illustrate the broader cultural impact. The conclusion is clear, but the essay would benefit from more depth in the supporting arguments to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the sentence fragment 'which eventually helps the supermarket owners to attract new customers.' Despite these minor flaws, the overall structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'imported food', 'transportation', and 'packaging'. However, there is a lack of variety and precision. Phrases like 'many sort of' and 'make great impact' are slightly unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary. For instance, instead of 'make great impact', you could use 'exert a significant influence'. The range is sufficient to communicate your ideas clearly, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'food which is were produced', 'many people wants', and 'benefit to that country'. Additionally, there are issues with article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'in comparison of local food'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
