Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of global food availability in supermarkets. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the position is clear, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack specific, real-world examples beyond generic mentions of 'discounts' or 'expert workers'. To reach a higher band, you need to expand on the implications of global food trade, such as the environmental impact or the support for local farmers, to provide a more balanced and thorough argument. The conclusion is also very brief and does not effectively summarize the main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'Nevertheless', but these are often used incorrectly or in a mechanical way. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. For instance, the transition between the benefits of supermarkets and the 'Nevertheless' paragraph is confusing, as the second paragraph actually continues to list benefits rather than providing a counter-argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'big store', 'product', and 'good'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'validate the given nation' (likely meant 'notion') and 'migrating from one place to another' (which is not appropriate for shopping). To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to global trade, consumerism, and economic impacts. Using a wider variety of synonyms and more precise academic collocations will help you convey your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('It will observed', 'their have some other benefit'), missing articles ('in different country'), and incorrect verb forms ('shall be discuss'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for common slips like 'their' vs 'there' and ensuring verbs are in the correct tense will help you achieve a higher score.
