Student answer (Band 5.0)
According to me it has both positive and negative scenario, consumers have right to buy anything they are willing for and it is good for the nation as well , as it grows the sales and it makes things easy and reliable and it is veri convenient for everyone , and trying food produced by different nations is really adaptable and this expands the knowledge of food diversity and the cultures they carry and the food production that is all over the world is a good thing that makes the food affordable for everyone and it can be very reliable source of food for the ones in need and I think the food that is produced all over the world is easier to get and sell , this makes the currency weak and consumers can not get much profit from this, this is the negative way of this thing and there is a lot of positive in this for example I live in India and apples are the food that is available all over the world and yet it is so much in need for everyone and it is healthy for your body and mind as it is said that an apple a day keeps doctor away , this has positive impact on development according to my thinking and food that are available in supermarket are mostly fresh and choosen wisely so it is beneficial for consumer to buy food from there and to be in profit . Thank you

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both positive and negative aspects of global food trade. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments, such as 'it grows the sales' or 'makes the currency weak', are asserted without sufficient explanation or logical support. The essay lacks a clear structure, appearing as a single long paragraph rather than a formal essay with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The position is somewhat unclear due to the lack of cohesive argumentation. To improve, you should focus on developing each point with specific examples and ensuring a clear, structured format that separates your introduction, main arguments, and conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is written as one continuous block of text, which significantly hinders coherence. There is a lack of paragraphing, which is essential for organizing ideas in an IELTS task. While there are some attempts at linking ideas (e.g., 'for example', 'and yet'), the flow is often disrupted by the overuse of 'and' as a primary connector. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences are often run-on and lack clear transitions between the positive and negative points. Using clear paragraph breaks and a wider variety of cohesive devices would greatly improve the logical flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'good thing', 'really adaptable', and 'very convenient' are used frequently, which limits the sophistication of the response. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'it grows the sales' (should be 'increases sales') and 'to be in profit' (which does not fit the context of a consumer buying food). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to trade, economics, and globalization, and avoid relying on simple, informal descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response consists almost entirely of long, run-on sentences connected by 'and'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and punctuation is largely absent, which makes the text difficult to read. Grammatical errors are frequent, such as 'consumers have right' (missing an article), 'food that are available' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'choosen' (spelling error). The lack of sentence variety and the high frequency of basic grammatical errors significantly impact the clarity of the message. Focusing on sentence boundary control and using a mix of simple and complex structures would be a major improvement.
