Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the availability of global food products, but the focus shifts significantly toward online shopping and e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart rather than the broader implications of global food trade. While the position is clear, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth regarding the environmental or cultural impacts of global food distribution. The argument regarding GDP growth is relevant but relies on general assertions rather than specific, well-supported examples. To improve, ensure that the content remains strictly focused on the core topic of global food availability and provide more nuanced analysis of the positive and negative developments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by fragmented sentences and awkward transitions. For instance, sentences often begin with 'which is' or 'which helps,' creating a mechanical and repetitive structure that hinders the flow of ideas. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. While there is a basic attempt at paragraphing, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring sentences are complete would significantly enhance the coherence of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'conftable' for comfortable, 'Quilty' for quality, 'retailors' for retailers, and 'spands' for expand. The range of vocabulary is basic, and there is a reliance on repetitive phrasing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the frequent errors in word choice and spelling prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and attempt to incorporate more varied, topic-specific vocabulary related to international trade and consumerism.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, sentence fragments, and incorrect article usage. Many sentences are incomplete or incorrectly punctuated, such as 'which is more useful to make life more interesting.' The range of structures is limited, with a heavy reliance on simple sentences and faulty complex structures. These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, although the general meaning remains accessible. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common punctuation and agreement errors.
