Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both positive and negative aspects of global food availability in supermarkets. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention convenience and discounts as positives, and overbuying and health concerns as negatives, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the example regarding 'noodle maggie' is anecdotal and does not fully support the broader argument about global food distribution. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear reasoning rather than just stating the idea. The position is clear, but the overall development is limited by the lack of sophisticated analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Beside this' and 'In other words' are used, but the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. For example, the transition from discussing supermarket organization to the health benefits of fresh food is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Peoples have mind that may very manipulating in mean times'. Improving the variety and precision of linking words will help create a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'plethora of merits attached with this notion' and 'financilly to the buyer'. Spelling errors are frequent, including 'vagetables', 'exmaple', and 'buyed'. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the recurring errors in word formation and spelling restrict the score. To improve, focus on learning collocations and proofreading for common spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Its save a lots of time', 'crowd now have one advantage'), incorrect verb tenses ('i buyed'), and missing articles or incorrect pluralization ('Individuals in past times need to visits a numbereous of shops'). While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the text from achieving a higher score. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, before attempting more complex structures.
