Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 161 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address the prompt by mentioning both positive and negative outcomes, the discussion is incomplete and ends abruptly with 'However,'. The position is not fully developed, and the lack of a conclusion or a balanced argument means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 250 words and provide a structured, complete argument that covers all aspects of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, such as using transition words like 'The formost reason' and 'Moreover'. However, the paragraphing is incomplete, and the abrupt ending severely disrupts the flow of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, and the lack of a coherent structure makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. To improve, focus on developing full paragraphs with clear topic sentences and ensuring the essay has a logical introduction, body, and conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'skyrockated' (skyrocketed), 'formost' (foremost), and 'enhnace' (enhance). There is also an issue with collocation, for example, 'worldwide nations' is not standard English. While the meaning is generally understandable, the errors are frequent and sometimes impede the flow of the text. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for basic spelling errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('demand... have skyrockated', 'shopkeeper has to import... due to satisfy'), and awkward sentence structures ('This essay will expressing my perspective in ensuing write-ups'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. The errors are frequent and occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
