Student answer (Band 5.5)
In contemporary society, numerous consumers can go to a superstore to purchase food that is being produced internationally. From my perspective, I strongly believe that this development has a positive influence on different areas of life and society. This essay will explain why this position is justified with some reasons and multiple examples.
One of the major reasons upholding my view is that the availability of various food items in supermarkets facilitate individuals in numerous ways. In other words, the consumers purchase a wide repertoire of food items which are not being produced in their countries. For instance, if the local public wants to try a specific fruit which has no production in the country, supermarkets provide that particular fruit by importing it in the country. As a result, superstores facilitate citizens so that they can buy food which is produced globally.
Another strong reason uplifting my viewpoint is that the consumers can buy various types of vegetables from supermarkets which are not being produced in their country due to arid climate. Furthermore, the patients who are residing in a country and confronting severe health complications could easily purchase vegetables from superstores which are enriched in protein. For example, many patients in Saudi Arabia purchase imported vegetables from supermarkets to fight their ailment. Consequently, bigger markets that sell food item paves the way for consumers by providing them a variety of fruits, vegetables, and other eatables.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that supermarkets bring several significant advantages for consumers by importing several food items to their businesses which are not produced in their country. Therefore, the individuals living in different areas of the world can buy food easily from bigger superstores with less effort and worry.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of global food is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. The arguments in the second and third paragraphs are very similar, focusing almost exclusively on the availability of non-local produce. To reach a higher band, you should explore different dimensions of the topic, such as the economic impact on local farmers or the environmental consequences of food miles. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments lack the depth and variety required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'In other words', 'For instance', and 'Furthermore' are used to link sentences. However, some of the transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'Another strong reason' and 'Consequently'. The progression of ideas is clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive markers to avoid a formulaic structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'contemporary society', 'repertoire', and 'ailment'. However, there is a lack of flexibility and precision. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'superstore' (which is less common than 'supermarket' in this context) and 'uplifting my viewpoint'. There is also some repetition of basic vocabulary like 'food items' and 'produced'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a broader range of topic-specific vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent minor errors in grammar and article usage, such as 'importing it in the country' (should be 'into') and 'which are enriched in protein' (should be 'enriched with'). Additionally, there are some awkward phrasings like 'supermarkets facilitate individuals' and 'bigger markets that sell food item paves the way'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more consistent control over complex structures and prepositional usage.
