Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent times, customers can buy any food items which was produced in the foreign countries. In my opinion, its a constructive development.

One of the most convincing reason behind my opinion is that now people can now enjoy food of different countries in their home country. Moreover, people can have the same authentic taste of foreign food with the same ingredient. This is because now foreign countries are opening their food shops franchises in another countries.

Not only this but, because of new technologies export of food become more easier and faster. Secondly, Because of faster deliveries of food in another countries, the food stay fresh and the taste is also maintained. For example, Indian food is very popular in foreign countries and it is exported to many countries and it is consumed by many Indian people who are living in foreign and also by many foreigners.

On the other hand some people do not like to eat and purchase food item. They think that is people eats more and more foreign food they will forgot about their own food culture and tradition. However, most of the people eats foreign food item because it is available easily and to explore new food items.

To conclude, Because of easy import and export food items from all over the world are available in our countries and nearer to our homes . People have to try it but do not have to eat it on daily basis because it is not our own country's food.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the development is constructive. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the availability of food and technological advancements, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the point about Indian food is relevant but remains underdeveloped. To improve, you should expand on the implications of global food trade, such as economic benefits or environmental concerns, rather than just stating that food is available. The conclusion is somewhat repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. Aim to provide more nuanced reasoning to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Because of' and 'Moreover'. Some transitions are awkward, for example, 'Not only this but, because of...'. The logical progression between sentences is sometimes interrupted by grammatical errors, which makes the flow feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your main position.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'food items', 'good', and 'foreign'. There are also some unnatural collocations, such as 'opening their food shops franchises'. While your meaning is clear, the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'globalization', 'culinary diversity', 'logistics', 'supply chain') limits your score. Try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more flexible command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('food items which was produced', 'people eats'), article misuse ('in another countries'), and awkward phrasing ('export of food become more easier'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, practice combining simple sentences into complex ones using subordinating conjunctions to show a greater range of grammatical control.
