Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many parts of the world today consumers can go to a supermarket and purchase food produced all over the world.

In my perspective it is a positive development.

As the technology enhance in today's era many people believe that placing order to buy food or grocery is the great option. If we take a step to supermarket and purchase we will be aware of the product and get satisfied.

Nowadays people don't feel to walk out as it increases their interest in walking refreshing their mind , interaction with people, knowing each other.

For example - In my daily routine I go to market and buy food, as we get to know the complete details of the product like it's manufacturing and expiry date , when to use , how to use , everything in detail. When it comes to take through online just we can go through is it's price . This is a positive development, moreover we get to know the taste of every product of different countries.

Many countries have different taste and recipes they follow. According to my experience having various tastes of food enhance the love towards the country.

In supermarket we can find various food products available that is being used in this modern world.

There is no negative development in my opinion. Infact it's a better option to walk through the supermarket and consumers can find everything what they need .

My experience in buying the food and products is very interesting for me .

Therefore I conclude that this is a positive development where that consumers has to go supermarket and purchase food all over the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of global food is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. The argument focuses heavily on the physical act of shopping in a supermarket versus online shopping, rather than fully exploring the broader implications of global food availability, such as economic impact, cultural exchange, or environmental concerns. While the task is addressed, the supporting points lack depth and the connection between the global nature of the food and the benefits described is not always clearly articulated. The response would benefit from more detailed examples and a more balanced exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, consisting mostly of short, disjointed sentences. There is a lack of effective cohesive devices to link ideas together; for example, the transition between the discussion of technology and the benefits of physical shopping is abrupt. While there is a basic logical progression, the lack of clear paragraphing makes the text feel like a series of isolated points rather than a cohesive argument. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall flow is hindered by the repetitive sentence structure and the absence of sophisticated linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'good', 'great', and 'positive'. There are some attempts to use more specific vocabulary, such as 'manufacturing and expiry date', but these are limited. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'placing order to buy food' instead of 'ordering groceries online' and 'take through online' which is non-standard. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'technology enhance', 'consumers has to go'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'people don't feel to walk out'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are frequent and occasionally impede the flow of the text. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over basic grammar and attempt a wider variety of complex sentence forms with greater accuracy.
