Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, in different countries, people can buy different products from supermarkets, which are produced all over the world. This essay will discuss why I believe that it is a positive development for the both local people and the country's economy.

Firstly, availability of a variety of foods which belongs to another country at a one place is a really beneficial for a consumer and also for a seller. Consumers are watching different variety of foods online and they better know how they can use and they are willing to try different cuisines from different countries and availability of those products makes it easy for consumers to buy and explore variety of cuisines at their own place. Additionally, it is beneficial for seller to earn handsome amount for money for exported products, it can increase their sell and number of customers. For instance, people mostly prefer those shops where they can find everything without rushing here are there for every product.

Another important reason is that, products available in supermarkets from all over the world can boost economic growth of the country. Because it can improve overall sells, which can contribute in funding for the country. Moreover, it can help to improve relationships with different countries by trading with each other for different valuable products.

In conclusion, availability of variety of products from all over the world is a positive development because it allows to explore variety of foods and different cuisines from different countries at your own place, and it can increase seller's income. On the other hand, it can assist in the country's economic growth, and improve relationships with other countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of global food products is a positive development. The ideas are relevant, focusing on consumer choice and economic benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding economic growth is vague, mentioning 'funding for the country' without explaining the mechanism of trade or economic impact clearly. The essay would benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis to move beyond general statements. While all parts of the task are addressed, the support for the main arguments lacks the depth required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', 'Another important reason', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal the progression of ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. For instance, the transition between the consumer benefits and the seller benefits in the first body paragraph is abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure could be improved by ensuring that each paragraph has a more unified focus and smoother internal transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'different countries', 'different products', and 'different cuisines' are used frequently, which restricts the lexical variety. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'availability of a variety of foods which belongs to another country at a one place' and 'earn handsome amount for money'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or precise vocabulary prevents the response from reaching a higher band. The student should focus on using more varied synonyms and collocations to express ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect the clarity of the writing. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'foods which belongs'), article usage (e.g., 'at a one place'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'Consumers are watching different variety of foods'). While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, the student should work on sentence construction, specifically focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions to ensure more accurate and fluent expression.
