Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the pros and cons of purchasing global food products in supermarkets. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding 'physical testing' is a bit vague and repetitive. The essay also shifts focus significantly toward comparing physical supermarkets with online shopping, which is a related but slightly tangential development of the core prompt about global food availability. While a position is clear, the supporting examples, such as the mention of 'D-MART', are a bit anecdotal and could be more effectively linked to the global nature of the food supply chain. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis is limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'On the one feasible' is an incorrect collocation for introducing an argument, and 'that time they spend' creates a disjointed flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the benefits of physical supermarkets and the drawbacks of overcrowding feels abrupt. While the essay is coherent overall, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the presence of awkward phrasing limit the score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'supermarket stoles' (likely meaning stalls or stores), 'physical testing of food', and 'illigal concequnces'. The student attempts to use more complex vocabulary, but these attempts often result in errors or unnatural collocations. Spelling errors like 'approch', 'fetures', and 'concequnces' are also present. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('many buyers are purchase'), incorrect preposition usage ('attributed by'), and awkward sentence construction ('if people go outside the home door for purchase some food'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. More attention to verb tenses and sentence structure is required.
