Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention benefits like cultural exchange and economic profit, and drawbacks like pollution and health concerns, the arguments lack depth and specific supporting evidence. For instance, the mention of 'Maggie' as a health risk is a bit informal and lacks a broader context. Your position is stated in the introduction and conclusion, but the overall argument could be more persuasive if you expanded on the implications of global food trade rather than listing points. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by a well-explained example.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'Finally, it has positive development than negative', which is grammatically awkward and does not effectively link the final thought. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is generally logical, but the transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow of your argument. Improving the variety of linking words will help you achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express basic ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'imported food', 'consumption', and 'transportation'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'individual preferences changed' (should be 'have changed'), 'daily vegetable foods' (unnatural phrasing), and 'tends habit to intake' (incorrect collocation). To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('supermarket have', 'it have both positive'), missing articles ('in free time'), and awkward phrasing ('Help to import food country built a good relation'). While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain errors that affect clarity. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly. Proofreading for these common errors will significantly improve your score.
