Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the trend is positive. However, the development of ideas is weak. The arguments regarding 'quality of food' and 'better facilities' are not logically sound or well-supported. For instance, the claim that supermarkets are inherently healthier than street vendors is a broad generalization, and the example regarding 'servants' in grocery stores is confusing and lacks relevance to the global food trade topic. The essay focuses more on the general benefits of supermarkets rather than the specific implications of consuming food produced all over the world, which was the core of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often illogical. While cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'Furthermore' are used, they are sometimes applied mechanically or inappropriately. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the sentence 'in such cases we all know that a superstore only sells the food which is fresh', which lacks a clear antecedent. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'putting a healthy hand among individuals' and 'purchasunf'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'allover', 'purchasunf') indicate a limited control over lexical items, preventing the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('individuals those who purchase'), sentence fragments, and incorrect punctuation (e.g., 'In, conclusion'). The range of structures is limited, and attempts at complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'if we purchase food from a superstore plays a very important role'. The lack of control over basic sentence construction and frequent errors in articles and prepositions significantly impact the overall quality of the writing.
