Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, Buying world food from the supermarket has become an increasingly noticeable trend in many societies. Although it may present certain challenges, I consider this to be an overall positive development because of its impact on world culture and more choices to eat.

The most significant advantage of purchasing international food from the supermarket is that it helps you to know about different cultures. This is primarily because if you try to eat food from different land ,it assits you to identify various places. As a result, You can increase your knowledge. A clear example of this can be seen in many areas, where individuals are just known from their unique identity. Therefore, this aspect of buying food of different culture can have a particularly positive impact on SOCIETY.

Another important benefit is that you have more choices to eat. One reason for this is that you have alot of options to select for eat. This means that you would not be limied in option to chose for buying food. For instance, if you are visiting a supermarket to find some national food items, when you see some other nations food, you can decide to try those food. Consequently, More choices in food can contribute considerably to enhance your taste, further , strengthening the case for acquire foreign food.

In conclusion, although buying international food from the local supermarket is not without its drawbacks, I believe that it represents an overall positive development. The benefits it provides in terms of exploring the world culture and more option to eat are likely to have a lasting positive impact on society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the trend is positive. The ideas are relevant, focusing on cultural awareness and dietary variety. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument that eating food from different lands 'assists you to identify various places' is vague and lacks logical depth. Similarly, the second body paragraph relies on repetitive phrasing ('more choices to eat', 'options to select') rather than exploring the economic or social implications of global food trade. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, concrete examples and explain the 'why' behind your points more thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The most significant advantage', 'Another important benefit', and 'In conclusion'. However, some of these devices feel mechanical or are used incorrectly, such as 'further , strengthening the case for acquire foreign food', which lacks proper punctuation and grammatical integration. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; for instance, the sentence 'individuals are just known from their unique identity' does not clearly connect to the previous point about cultural knowledge. Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is significant repetition of basic words like 'food', 'supermarket', and 'choices'. Some word choices are unnatural or incorrect, such as 'acquire foreign food' (which sounds like a business transaction rather than consumption) and 'limied in option to chose'. There are also minor errors in word form, such as 'assits' (spelling) and 'SOCIETY' (unnecessary capitalization). To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'culinary diversity', 'globalisation', or 'consumer preferences', and ensure correct word forms are used.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'Buying world food... has become' (capitalisation error), 'if you try to eat food from different land ,it assits you' (missing article 'a' and spelling error), and 'options to select for eat' (incorrect prepositional phrase). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and consistent punctuation would significantly improve your score.
