Student answer (Band 6.0)
In various countries today, consumers can purchase food produced in different part of the world in a supermarket. Food is an essential need of human beings and with the advancement in technology and importation of these food items which people have quiet benefited from, I agree to the fact that this is a positive development with my reasons discussed in the following paragraphs.
First, due to advancement in transportation many foods across the world can effortlessly be transported across different countries and this is beneficial because individuals who are much interested in trying other foods which they rarely have in their countries can comfortably purchase such food items from the supermarket in their towns, street or areas.
Second, this gives the local or foreign vendors of an ideal of which food items are in high demand and the ones barely asked of. For instance, if a particular food item like rice which produced in a different country is in high demand, vendors would order this item more or book them in advance and this helps also in global recognition of food.
Third, culture shock and this is due to the fact that people who purchase food items which are not available in their countries that they find interesting might as well make certain research about the food, where is gotten, what made it popular and the country that produces it.
In my perspective, I believe this a very positive change owing to the fact that this had given people who could not afford to travel to other countries the opportunity to try different food across the world from the comfort of their country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of global food is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide three reasons—variety, market demand, and cultural interest—the explanation for each is brief and lacks depth. For instance, the point about 'culture shock' is not fully explained in relation to the prompt. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the implications of global food trade, such as the environmental impact or economic benefits, to provide a more balanced and comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First', 'Second', and 'Third' to signal your points. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between the idea of 'culture shock' and the research aspect is slightly abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as in the sentence 'Third, culture shock and this is due to the fact...', where the connection between the heading and the explanation is grammatically disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'advancement', 'importation', and 'global recognition'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that limit the precision of your writing. For example, you use 'quiet' instead of 'quite', and 'rarely have' instead of 'rarely find'. Phrases like 'book them in advance' are slightly informal for an academic essay. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary choices are consistently accurate and appropriate for an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'different part of the world' (should be 'parts'), 'rice which produced' (should be 'which is produced'), and 'where is gotten' (should be 'where it is gotten from'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some missing articles and awkward phrasing that affect the overall fluency. To achieve a higher score, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses and passive voice.
