Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, consumers buy food products in a supermarket that was produced from different parts of the world, which I believe is a negative development since it affects local farmers and has an escalating price.
It is on top of the fact that food products produced all over the world helps global trade in the country. Buying foreign food helps workers and farmers from other nations. Furthermore, there are plenty of items for consumers to choose from, such as those that do not grow in their home country. Consequently, attracting customers to buy variety of foods from different nation.
Regardless of the positive outcome, there are some drawbacks that greatly affect the consumers and local farmers. Exportation of international products is a disadvantage for local farmers since they cannot sell their own crops, which cost them less profit and bankruptcy. In addition, there is an escalating price for every item sold in the market since it was shipped from different country. For instance, supermarkets even trade fruits and vegetables from other country, where in fact local farmers can sell in an affordable price yet high quality since they do not contain too many chemicals and preservatives. As a result, there is no improvement in the community since exported products are more popular in the market instead of original products produced in the home country.
In conclusion, products sold from supermarket are mostly produced from other parts of the world and it results to a negative consequence to the community and the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the development is negative. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The second paragraph introduces arguments in favor of global food trade, which contradicts your stated position in the introduction. While acknowledging counter-arguments is good, the transition is abrupt and lacks a clear synthesis. The arguments regarding local farmers and pricing are relevant but remain somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points directly reinforce your main thesis throughout the essay rather than presenting conflicting viewpoints without sufficient rebuttal or integration.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', and 'In addition'. However, the flow between ideas is sometimes mechanical or confusing. For instance, the second paragraph starts by supporting global trade, which creates a logical disconnect with your thesis. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'where in fact local farmers can sell in an affordable price'. Improving the logical progression between sentences and ensuring that cohesive devices are used to connect related ideas, rather than just acting as signposts, will improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'exportation', 'preservatives', and 'bankruptcy'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'escalating price' (which usually refers to a trend rather than a state), 'trade fruits' (instead of 'import' or 'sell'), and 'sell in an affordable price' (should be 'at'). To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to convey your arguments with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('food products... helps', 'products... results to'), incorrect preposition usage ('produced from' instead of 'in'), and awkward phrasing ('where in fact local farmers can sell in an affordable price'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and refining your use of prepositions.
