Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of global food availability. You clearly state your position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'learning about culture' is mentioned but not explained in depth. Similarly, the negative argument regarding 'financial loss' for local retailers is a good point but lacks specific evidence or logical expansion. To improve, ensure that each main idea is supported by a clear explanation or a more detailed example, rather than listing several points briefly. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and could better summarise the main arguments presented in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'In contrast', and 'Therefore' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or repetitive, such as the use of 'Secondly' twice in the same paragraph. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'customers feel attraction on the foods', where the connection to the previous point about culture is weak. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'essential', 'satisfaction', 'obsessed', and 'economical crisis'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'feel attraction on the foods' (should be 'attracted to') and 'effect in their tradition' (should be 'affect their traditions'). Some phrasing is also slightly unnatural, such as 'utilize those money'. To reach a higher band, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary. Proofreading for word forms (e.g., 'effect' vs 'affect') will also help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'foods which produced all over the world' (missing 'are'), 'supermarket in every season' (missing 'a' or 'the'), and 'due to many supermarkets offer' (should be 'because many supermarkets offer'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement throughout. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that relative clauses and conjunctions are used accurately.
