Student answer (Band 6.5)
Increasingly, the widespread shift towards the impact of the availability of international food products in supermarkets for consumer use has gained significant attention. Although, there are different views on this matter, I strongly believe that encouraging people to buy local produced products is the most pragmatic approach to adopt in modern society.
A primary justification for this view is that, it siginficantly enhances not only quality of food consumption but also improves income of local farmers or workers. Specifically, local produced food items generally reach markets quickly and stays fresh without much preservatives and people comfortably enjoys a healthy diet. For instance, many people in India reported a massive improvement in their health after considering locally planted vegetables.
Admittedly, a noticeable decline in the diversity of diet cannot be ignored. This is significantly because, people love to enjoy different varieties of food, which also provides nutrients which aren’t available in locally produced food. To illustrate this drawback, many fitness enthusiastic people in India often find it extremely difficult of meet their dietary requirements after the government banned avacado in supermarkets. However, provided there is sensible management this issue can be resolved. Therefore we should still focus on encouraging people to buy local produced products.
In conclusion, when looking at the issue of the impact of the availability of international food products in supermarket for consumer use the best choice is clear. I firrmly maintain that encouraging people to buy local produced products is the most effective approach. While concerns regarding a noticeable decline in the variety of diet cannot be ignored, the long-term advantaged completely outweigh any temporary setbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of local produce. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding health benefits is supported by a brief example from India, but the explanation could be more detailed to reach a higher band. The counter-argument regarding dietary diversity is acknowledged, but the rebuttal is brief. To improve, ensure that each main point is fully extended with more nuanced reasoning or specific evidence, rather than relying on general statements. The position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'A primary justification', 'Specifically', 'Admittedly', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there is some mechanical use of these devices, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, though some transitions feel slightly abrupt. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the progression of ideas is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a solid band 6.5 or 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'pragmatic approach' and 'sensible management'. However, there are several spelling errors ('siginficantly', 'avacado', 'firrmly', 'advantaged') and some awkward phrasing like 'locally planted vegetables' instead of 'locally grown produce'. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, the recurring spelling mistakes and occasional imprecise word choices prevent a higher score. Focusing on accurate spelling and more natural collocations will improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('food items... stays fresh', 'people... enjoys') and incorrect preposition usage ('difficult of meet'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some unnecessary commas, such as after 'Although' in the first paragraph. While the errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, the writer should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring complex structures are used with greater accuracy.
