Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the arguments provided are underdeveloped and lack logical depth. The examples, such as the mention of bananas and international trade, are fragmented and difficult to follow, making it hard for the reader to grasp your main points. To improve, you must expand on your ideas with clear, coherent explanations and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. While there are attempts at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'good impact' and 'for example' without proper linking to the preceding sentences. The lack of clear transitions between sentences makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, which hinders the expression of complex ideas. You rely on basic words like 'good', 'buy', and 'things' throughout the text. There are also frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'sport my answer' (likely meaning 'support') and 'remark able' (remarkable). To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms related to global trade and consumerism, and pay closer attention to correct spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('consumers can go to a supermarkets'), sentence fragments, and run-on sentences. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with incorrect punctuation. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization. Practice writing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a better grasp of grammatical variety and accuracy.
