Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of global food trade. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding economic development is mentioned but lacks specific, well-explained examples to support the claim. While the position is clear, the supporting points are often repetitive or lack depth. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete evidence, ensuring that each paragraph contributes significantly to the overall argument rather than just listing general observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'Another main advantage is that' and 'However, the negative pint is that' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they' without a clear antecedent in the second paragraph. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'test the food' (instead of 'taste'), 'cost rate increased', and 'presers on the farmers'. Some basic vocabulary is repeated, such as 'food' and 'countries'. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context. Expanding your range to include topic-specific collocations related to international trade and economics would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('a wind range', 'a food'), subject-verb agreement ('supermarket in many countries offer'), and word order ('they can easily to enjoy'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and incorrect spacing. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would help improve your accuracy.
