Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both positive and negative aspects of global food availability. However, the development of ideas is limited. The argument regarding 'addiction to shopping' is somewhat tangential and not clearly linked to the core topic of global food trade. Furthermore, the explanation of economic impacts is vague, and the example of cotton in Egypt is not directly relevant to the topic of food consumption. The position is stated but lacks depth, and the conclusion is overly brief. To improve, you should focus on providing more specific, relevant examples and ensuring that every point directly supports your stance on whether this development is positive or negative.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'This easy will discuss' and 'for be accurate this way'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the logical progression within paragraphs is hindered by awkward phrasing. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'However', they are not always used effectively to connect complex ideas. Improving the variety and accuracy of your cohesive devices will help the flow of your writing significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'finance status' instead of 'financial situation', 'approach temperature' instead of 'appropriate temperature', and 'don't produced' instead of 'are not produced'. Some phrases are also unidiomatic, such as 'addicted by buying'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the frequent errors in word choice prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('this absolutely have'), missing auxiliary verbs ('when we able to'), and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with irregular spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures limits the score. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common slips in verb forms and tense consistency.
