Student answer (Band 5.0)
When you want to buy anything from anywhere especially food, you can do this easily. This absolutely has both pros and cons. This essay will discuss this topic with some conclusions.
To begin with, when we are able to buy a variety of food produced anywhere in the world, this may make us consumers more than producers that when we buy exported food more that our local food, this will cause some problems for us and for our country, because this affects exports and imports in our society, and for us this impacts on our financial status. Moreover, this can make us addicted to buying, some people want to go shopping every day since they face their problems in this way or for to be accurate this way which they escape from solving their problems. Now, we see that this problem has increased rapidly more than anytime.
However, the availability of many types of food from different cultures sure has some advantages. In some countries, some kinds of food aren't produced for many reasons, for example they don't have the right soil to plant these seeds or don't have the approach temperature, so they, in this case, try this type of food from another country. A considerable number of countries have a steady status, because they depend mainly on exporting some types of food to other countries, for example Egypt benefits a lot from exporting cotton all over the world.
In conclusion, I believe that this topic can be taken as a good and bad habit, it depends on our way. We should be aware of everything we do in our daily life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of global food trade. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding 'addiction to shopping' as a way to escape problems is tangential and not clearly linked to the topic of global food availability. Furthermore, the explanation of economic impacts is vague. To improve, you should focus on more direct arguments, such as the environmental cost of food miles versus the benefit of food security and cultural exchange. The position is clear, but the supporting points lack depth and specific evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow between ideas is often mechanical or disjointed. For example, the transition 'for to be accurate this way which they escape from solving their problems' is grammatically confusing and disrupts the logical progression. While cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'However' are used, they are sometimes applied to ideas that do not logically follow one another. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring that each sentence builds clearly upon the previous one will enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'good and bad habit' and 'some problems'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'approach temperature' (likely meaning 'appropriate temperature') and 'steady status'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology related to international trade and consumerism, while ensuring that your word choices are accurate in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('this problem has increased'), awkward phrasing ('this may make us consumers more than producers that when we buy'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are run-on or fragmented, making them difficult to parse. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for moving to a higher band.
