Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, people can easily purchase a foreign food from their nearest supermarket due to the ever-growing technology making it easy for the food importing and exporting market to grow as well. This essay argues that it may bring more positive impacts rather than negative ones.
In my home country, Indonesia, only a certain group of people have the privilege and the resources to be able to travel abroad. With local supermarkets providing food products in their aisles from around the world, this gives a chance for those people to be able to have the experience of expanding their food tasing experience without having to spend money on traveling. Importing fees may cause these products to be slightly more on the costly side, however it is not as expensive as traveling abroad. It is convenient, cost-friendly and they can just drive to the nearest store and buy the imported goods to enjoy.
It is also a good way for the food market to keep evolving and adding their product variant. It will keep increasing the interest of new buyers and retaining existing consumers' willingness to remain a loyal customer. In Jakarta, many local fruit shops have started to use this marketing trick to attract new as well as regular consumers. Other than selling local fruits, they start selling fruits from other countries. The idea of being able to taste the exotic fruit without having to leave Jakarta seems to work surprising well for these fruit sellers.
In conclusion, having imported food from other countries in local stores have many benefits for consumers, distributors, and sellers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by arguing that the availability of global food products is a positive development. You provide relevant examples, such as the situation in Indonesia and the marketing strategies of local fruit shops in Jakarta. However, the response is somewhat underdeveloped. While you mention benefits for consumers and sellers, you could have strengthened your argument by briefly acknowledging the potential negative impacts (such as environmental concerns or the impact on local farmers) to provide a more balanced and nuanced discussion. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In my home country,' 'It is also,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally mechanical. Some transitions between sentences feel slightly abrupt, and the referencing could be more precise. For instance, in the second paragraph, the transition from the benefits of travel to the cost of imported goods is a bit sudden. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the central ideas are easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'privilege,' 'exotic,' and 'distributors.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'food tasing experience' (likely a typo for 'tasting') and 'adding their product variant' (which sounds slightly unnatural). You attempt to use some less common vocabulary, but the overall range is somewhat limited. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'food market' and 'local stores.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'With local supermarkets providing food products... this gives a chance...' and 'The idea of being able to taste... seems to work.' While there are some grammatical errors, such as 'a foreign food' (should be 'foreign food') and 'have many benefits' (subject-verb agreement error with 'having imported food'), these do not impede communication. Your control of punctuation is generally good, and the majority of your sentences are clear and understandable.
