Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, imported food has become a subject of intence debate in modern society. While some people argue that it is beneficial that we can buy variety of goods by ordering out-seasonal food from other countries, I firmly believe that it harms our economy and have negative effects on our local farmers. This essay will not only discuss how it's disadvantages outweigh the advantages it offers but also discribes how it is an negative development.
On the one hand, importing goods from different countries provide us variety of food and other items in our supermarkets, which appeling consumers very much as they can buy vegetables as well as fruits which are out-seasonal. It is an appealing marketing technique which supermarkets use to attract customers to show them thing that not available localy due to climate reasons. Morover, maybe importing goods better in quality that's why we are encouraged to buy them.
On the other hand, buying more local products has many negative aspects as it is detrimental for our local farmers they maybe discouraged as they not recieve as many profit as they deserved. Moreover, foreign products are more expensive which is an other factor that the poor or middle class person can not able to buy it.
In conclusion, from my perspective buy food that produced all over the world may benefit consumer at a time but it has some long lasting disadvantages that impacts our local food, our farmers and our eatry habits to prefer out-seasonal food.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the impact on local farmers and the economy, these points are not fully extended with specific examples or deeper analysis. The essay is quite brief, and the arguments remain at a surface level. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations or concrete examples to support your claims, such as discussing specific environmental impacts or the role of global supply chains in food security.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. Some transitions feel repetitive, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'intence' (intense), 'discribes' (describes), 'appeling' (appealing), 'localy' (locally), and 'eatry' (eatery). Additionally, some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'ordering out-seasonal food' or 'receive as many profit'. To improve, focus on learning collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common academic terms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise, topic-specific terminology would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'it's disadvantages' (its), 'provide us variety' (provides us with a variety), 'they maybe discouraged' (they may be discouraged), and 'can not able to buy' (cannot afford). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence construction is essential.
