Student answer (Band 6.0)
As of recent, customers can go to a convinience store and purchase food produced all around the globe in various countries. This is a positive development as people have to freedom to buy a variety of different items and raises internationalization.
Consumers have the freedom of choice. They are provided with a wide range of food and confectionery items to choose from. This diverse variety thereby increases the willigness of buyers to search for food items produced by different companies and businesses, and buy what they need to satisfy their needs and wants.
For example, a man who goes to a supermarket looking for groceries, like vegetables and fruits, may pick from items that have been imported from various different countires. Such as, Mangoes from Egypt or Yemen.
This development is also favourable because it increases globalization. Globalization means to increase the connection and dependence of countries around the world. This can be achieved by trading, for instance. Activities like importing and exporting food items across countires plays a crucial role in globalization.
For example, various food aisles are categorized based on their origin. Korean food on one shelf including rice, kimchi, etc., and Indian food on the other which displays a range of pulses, spices, etc.
In conclusion, shoppers from various nationalities can visit a grocery store and buy items for consumption that have been produced globally. This encourages customers to purchase items since a range of choices has been provided. It also enhances globalization, which is very prevelant in this day and age.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by identifying the development as positive and providing two main reasons: consumer choice and globalization. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. The examples provided, such as the man buying mangoes or the description of supermarket aisles, are quite basic and lack depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the implications of these points—for example, discussing the economic impact on local farmers or the environmental cost of food miles. The position is clear, but the overall argument remains at a descriptive level rather than an analytical one.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central focus. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For instance, the transition between sentences often relies on simple structures. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between ideas could be improved by using more sophisticated linking words and phrases to connect the arguments more fluidly. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure feels a bit formulaic.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use some relevant terms like 'globalization', 'importing', and 'consumption', but there are several spelling errors, such as 'convinience', 'willigness', 'countires', and 'prevelant'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and ensure accuracy in spelling. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent minor errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'As of recent' is an awkward phrasing, and there are issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. The sentence structure is functional but lacks the variety and control needed for a higher band. You should focus on proofreading to eliminate basic errors and practice using a wider range of complex grammatical structures, such as conditional sentences or passive voice, to enhance your writing.
