Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of global food products is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The argument regarding the economy is slightly confused, as it conflates the convenience of processed food with national economic growth. The second body paragraph regarding employment is more relevant but lacks specific examples or depth. The conclusion is abrupt and fails to summarize the main points effectively, merely mentioning that disadvantages exist without having discussed them. To improve, you should focus on providing more logical, well-supported arguments rather than listing general points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the logical progression of ideas is often hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. For instance, the transition 'Commencing with one of the noteworthy point' is grammatically incorrect and clunky. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the connection between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. While the essay is readable, the flow is frequently interrupted by errors in cohesion, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. Using a wider variety of linking words more naturally would improve the overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'increasing economy of the country' instead of 'boosting the national economy' and 'supermalls' which is not the standard term for supermarkets. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with more sophisticated terminology. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to global trade and economics, and ensure that you use words in their correct context to avoid confusion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'supermarkets is one of the examples'), article misuse (e.g., 'in the pocket of government'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'is able to increasing economy'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips, particularly regarding articles and pluralization.
