Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to address the core of the prompt, which asks about the implications of consuming food produced globally. Instead, the essay focuses on the general benefits of supermarkets and a comparison between online shopping and physical stores. The prompt's specific focus on 'food produced all over the world' is ignored. Consequently, the position is unclear, and the ideas presented are largely irrelevant to the specific task instructions. To improve, you must carefully analyze the prompt to ensure your arguments directly answer the question asked rather than writing a generic essay about supermarkets.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with' and 'Moving Further', they are often used incorrectly or do not connect the ideas logically. The transition between the topic of supermarkets and the discussion of online shopping is abrupt and lacks a clear link to the main argument. Furthermore, the referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended flow of thought. More attention should be paid to ensuring each sentence builds logically upon the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'things' and 'something' multiple times, which restricts the precision of your writing. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'run their business' and 'contributes on the country economy' (should be 'contributes to'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey a basic message, it lacks the range and flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to use more precise terminology related to global trade, supply chains, and consumer behavior to enhance your lexical profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'some goes' and 'many consumers are often goes'. Sentence structures are often fragmented or run-on, and there is a lack of complex sentence variety. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
