Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, consumers can go to supermarket and purchase food produced all over the world has emerged as subject of considerable debate. Some maintain that customers should buy food which are produced in their own country, whereas others argue that eatable items can be produced all over the nations. I think its a positive development. My opinion with valid reasons discussed in forthcoming paragraph.

First of all, buying food produced from different countries, can help customer to get wide range of variety, which can help them to improve their eating experience. To simplify my point, people can easily get access of fruits, vegetables and other products, that are not available locally. Nowadays, supermarket can easily import products from different continent. For example- Indian supermarkets often sells fruits like kiwi, which are imported from New Zealand, and apples from USA.

Moreover, the imported or exported food by and from India is FSSA certified, which helps India or other nations to maintain or trust on these products. Furthermore, it can be beneficial for their health also wellbeing. To instance, websites or apps like Amazon sells products which are FSSA licensed. mainly the dairy, herbs and vegetables are sorted in different categories to give ease to people.

To sum up, I think that it's an positive development because it can lead to improve mutual understanding and good relation between one country to another, whereas people from all over the world can try variety of fruits and vegetables. Although, importing food may have some environmental drawbacks but it outways its disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of global food is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention variety and health benefits, the arguments are not fully extended. For instance, the point about FSSA certification is somewhat tangential to the core debate of global food trade and could have been better linked to the economic or cultural benefits. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported argument that directly answers the 'why' behind your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', and 'To sum up' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'To simplify my point' or 'To instance'. Additionally, the flow between sentences could be smoother; some ideas feel like a list rather than a cohesive argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'considerable debate', 'imported', and 'mutual understanding'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'eatable items' (should be 'foodstuffs' or 'edible products') and 'all over the nations' (should be 'across the globe'). There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'outways' instead of 'outweighs'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are precise and natural in an academic context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('supermarket can easily import', 'Indian supermarkets often sells') and article usage errors ('as subject of', 'an positive development'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammar, particularly pluralization, articles, and subject-verb agreement, to ensure your writing is more accurate.
