Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, some people think that consumers can go to a super market and buy food produced all over the world. This essay will explain how that is a positive development and gives my opinion.

On the one hand, in many countries people order online items such as food , groceries, costume, makeup product. however , sometimes they doesn't get the product the ordered, the company change the products and people who ordered food online many times the food get rotten.

On the other hand, people who go to super market and buy food they can check the dates and the quality. while in online ordered the cannot check the item. For example , a person went to a supermarket and ordered food , if the food was not good, he can change that immediately and get another, but in online ordered he cannot do this. people can enjoy the shopping in supermarket, they can explore all the products and get whatever they want. that freedom is not on the online ordered, the people use basket on super market and do whatever they what.

In my perspective, i think that is a positive development because nowadays there are more people getting sick due to food safety they did not check the product details. so in super market they can do that so there should be no risk about health.

In conclusion, people who go to supermarket for their need is the best thing , they can grab the best product for themselves. people in all over the world do this they can assure there health and their children health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the availability of global food in supermarkets, but it struggles to maintain a clear focus. The essay frequently drifts into a comparison between online shopping and physical supermarket shopping, rather than focusing on the implications of global food availability (e.g., environmental impact, economic effects, or cultural exchange). The position is stated as positive, but the supporting arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. The ideas lack depth and do not fully explore the 'global' aspect of the prompt, focusing instead on the convenience of physical stores versus online delivery. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly supports the main argument regarding the global nature of food supply.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While transition signals like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion' are used, they are often applied to arguments that do not logically follow the prompt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is disjointed. For example, the transition from discussing online shopping to the benefits of physical supermarkets is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, and there is a lack of sophisticated linking between ideas. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring that each sentence builds upon the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of the writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Basic terms such as 'food', 'supermarket', and 'product' are used frequently throughout the text. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'costume' (likely meaning 'consumer goods' or 'clothes') and 'online ordered' (which should be 'online ordering'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or nuanced opinions. To achieve a higher band score, you should aim to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to global trade, food security, and consumer habits, and focus on using words in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'sometimes they doesn't get', 'the company change'), article usage, and sentence structure. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often grammatically incorrect. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb tenses.
