Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding the global availability of food in supermarkets. However, the position is not clearly established or maintained throughout the essay. While the writer mentions both positive and negative aspects, the arguments are underdeveloped and often lack logical connection to the topic. For instance, the claim that shopping helps one 'respect the older person' or 'lose stress' is not clearly linked to the global nature of food production. The response lacks a coherent argument, and the ideas are presented in a fragmented manner, making it difficult to follow the writer's stance on whether this development is positive or negative.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure of these paragraphs is weak. There is a lack of logical progression, and the transition between ideas is often abrupt or confusing. Cohesive devices are used in a very limited and often inaccurate way (e.g., 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', 'In conclusion'), which does not effectively link the sentences or ideas. The referencing is frequently unclear, and the overall flow of the argument is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's train of thought.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, often relying on basic words that do not accurately convey the intended meaning. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'wolrd', 'reasion', 'streess', 'staif', 'mothed', 'sail'). The writer struggles to use precise terminology related to the topic of global trade or consumerism. Many phrases are non-idiomatic or grammatically incorrect, which significantly hinders communication and makes the text difficult to interpret at times.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, lacking proper punctuation. For example, 'These will be see few world these day people can go...' is grammatically incoherent. There is very little evidence of complex sentence structures, and the errors are so frequent that they often impede the reader's understanding of the intended message. The control of basic grammar is weak, and there is no evidence of a range of structures.
