Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the age of capitalism, businesses are growing and developing on a daily basis. Nowadays, in many countries, there's a trend of supermarkets. Here, customers can come and purchase food that has been produced all over the world.
I really admire this facility and think that this is a wonderful development. There are many reasons for such perspective. First of all, it gives you enough facility that you don't need to worry about where to find a particular imported food product, everything lies under a single roof, the supermarket. I can personally relate with this, as previously, before IMTIAZ SUPERMARKET in my area, when there was no supermarket in my city, I really had to suffer a lot when I needed to visit different stoes to purchase avacadoes and dragon fruits, which are usually not available in my country. So, the concept of supermarket really made my food purchasing journey easier.
Also I believe that this will expose new food products to those people who have never knew about it. For example, in some developing countries, I personally know that people barely know about such fruits like avacadoes and dragon fruits, and many other as well. Supermarkets can introduce such food items to these people, which can drive crazy sales as well from the business perspective.
Due to these reasons, I personally find supermarkets really a positive development. Also I don't really think that there are disadvantages of a supermarket due to which we would call it a negative development. Infact, it helps people a lot by giving them facilities and exposure under one building.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the availability of global food in supermarkets is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide personal examples, such as the convenience of finding avocados and dragon fruits, the arguments remain focused on personal convenience rather than exploring broader socio-economic or environmental implications. To reach a higher band, you should expand your arguments to include more diverse perspectives, such as the impact on local farmers or the environmental cost of food miles, which would provide a more balanced and comprehensive analysis of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'First of all', 'Also', and 'Due to these reasons', to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between your personal anecdotes and the broader topic is more explicitly stated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'imported food product' and 'developing countries'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of informal or repetitive phrasing, such as 'drive crazy sales' and 'really admire this facility'. To achieve a higher score, aim to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary and collocations. For example, instead of 'drive crazy sales', you could use 'stimulate consumer demand' or 'increase market penetration'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'people have never knew about it' (should be 'known') and 'there are disadvantages of a supermarket due to which we would call it a negative development' (which is slightly awkward and wordy). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some minor errors in sentence construction. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
