Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both positive and negative aspects of global food trade. However, the development of ideas is often unclear or repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding economic benefits is difficult to follow due to fragmented sentences and unclear examples. The conclusion is incomplete, which prevents a clear final position from being established. While the response covers the main requirements of the task, the lack of logical progression and the underdeveloped nature of the arguments limit the score. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-explained point supported by a clear, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all' and 'On the other hand', but these are often used mechanically. The logical flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete and lacks a concluding thought. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between food availability and environmental health is tenuous. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of the writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in spelling and word choice that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'ecconmy' for economy, 'gorw' for grow, 'vegitabels' for vegetables, and 'impoart or depoart' for import or export. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and expanding your range of collocations. Using more precise terminology related to global trade and environmental impact would also help demonstrate a better command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('it help countries', 'people's suffer'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which affects the clarity of the message. There is a limited range of complex structures, and the attempts made are often inaccurate. For example, 'if food will give any place all over the world first people survive easyly' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of tenses, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
