Student answer (Band 5.5)
We know that ,nowadays most countries have supermarket where consumers can go and buy food of all over the world. This trend can effect a nation in both positive and negative way.
First of all , this trend have effected positively for few last decades people can get best variety of food because supermarkets have imported food also Besides this food would be more healthy and nuticious for example in pakistan the food imported from western countries including fruites and nuts etc are more healthy ,nutricious and full of taste .Another advantage of this aspect is people can buy their favourite food easily and donot need to search for it.The biggest favour that claimed by exporting countries is their economy grows when they export anythig to other coutries and got a lot of profit in dollars. That is the reason of success of developed countries.
On the other hand ,supermarkets needs to import food from other countries this process is very costly and fuel consuming this may damage the economy of doing imports country and people when have a option of greater variety of food they will not buy food from their own country produced by farmers so farmer will face a lot of lose in this case .As fuel consumes in import process it will also cause enviornmental pollution and damage transportation. The supermarkets also decrease sales of small shops near them. For example in pakistan there are a lot of supermarkets and marts they provide small discounts to trap consumers and nowadays the sales in local shops and stalls of poor persons are rapidly decreasing with time.
In conclusion, this trend provides better variety, increase the economy of exporting countries,
cause enviornmental pollution and producing bad results for local businesmen.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument, discussing the benefits of variety and economic growth for exporters, as well as the drawbacks regarding environmental impact and local business competition. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that imported food is 'more healthy and nutritious' is a generalization that lacks scientific backing or specific context. While the position is clear, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more nuanced examples. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and merely summarizes points rather than synthesizing them into a final thought.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all', 'Besides this', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing or punctuation errors, such as the missing spaces after commas in the introduction and first paragraph. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'nuticious' instead of 'nutritious', 'fruites' instead of 'fruits', and 'enviornmental' instead of 'environmental'. Additionally, some word choices are imprecise, such as 'the biggest favour that claimed by exporting countries' and 'damage the economy of doing imports country'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the frequency of spelling mistakes limit the score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('this trend have effected', 'supermarkets needs'), incorrect article usage ('the economy of doing imports country'), and punctuation errors (missing spaces after commas). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring correct punctuation and article usage.
