Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern era, people usually go to supermarket for buying numerous variety of food or other items. In my opinion, It's a positive development for country and their demonyms but it has some negative effects.

It also save the time of public because supermarket has more choices or options of food than local market. However, people can buy smoothly items in supermarket and also plays crucial role in agricultural field items such as imported fertilizers, amazing seeds etc. Another positive fact of this market is well-growth of country economic-fare. These supermarket also offers sales on food, however this is the main reason why people often go to supermarket. Supermarket offer the services till 24/7.

Instead of positive development, it has some negative effects on environment and for local farmer. If we see with naked eye, how it effects our environment?. From the point of me, supermarket buys things from different parts of world. These goods travel from one place to another by transport like ships, trucks and cargo aeroplanes etc. These transport also uses sufficient amount of fuel and in return they give us carbon footprints that harmed our environmental climate. This is main reason of global warming. Another negative effects is only for local or poor farmers. Supermarket provide high quality seeds, fertilizers or insects spray etc but it expensive than local market. These farmers couldn't grow their crops very well because they don't buy these item.

In conclusion, supermarket provides numerous varieties of food, saves public much time and growth of economic-fare. However, it effects the global warming therefore, the temperature of country goes upward and also barrier for local farmers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both the positive and negative aspects of global food availability. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'agricultural field items' and 'economic-fare' is vague and lacks clear explanation or specific examples to support the argument. While the position is clear, the supporting points regarding the environmental impact and the plight of local farmers are repetitive and lack depth. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete examples, such as specific types of food or the actual mechanisms by which local farmers are disadvantaged, rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'If we see with naked eye' and 'From the point of me' are unnatural and do not effectively link ideas. The progression between sentences is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between supermarket services and agricultural imports is abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'demonyms' (which refers to names for people from a place, not the people themselves), 'economic-fare', and 'insects spray'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'carbon footprints' and 'global warming', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using words in their correct context rather than relying on direct translations or imprecise terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'supermarket has', 'transport also uses'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'how it effects our environment?'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of question marks and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, these recurring errors demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve your accuracy.
