Student answer (Band 5.5)
Food is an essential part of human life. Men need different variety of food for better health. Currently, consumers can go to the supermarket to buy international food items in many countries. I think that it covers both positive and negative aspects.
In positive way, Now customers go to supermarkets and buy desired products unlike in past. As in past, some fruits was not available without special season, like in our country, mangoes was not available without summer. For instance, people in the united states can enjoy international foods like French Cheese and Germen food ingredients. Also, they maintain the required nutrients of body by eating every food. Another important factor is that it saves time as you can buy everything from a single place and you not need to roam about the whole city. So, it is beneficial for people to buy products from supermarket rather than from local markets because local markets cannot compete the variety and level of supermarket.
In contrast, it can also brings negative impacts. First, it degrades the potential of local farmers. As they cannot produce such things as may rival the level of global excellence in both aspects amount and quality as they lack the necessary equipments. As a result, people will not buy expensive and low quality food items from them which can cause poverty. secondly, the economy of country would not be better because they will need to import items and have to pay amount in dollars.
In short, I would like to say that buying items from supermarket can bring positive as well as negative impacts which will affect the economy of country and its people majorly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument, discussing the convenience of global food availability and the negative impact on local farmers and the economy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about the economy is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with a clear logical link. The position is clear, but the overall depth of the argument is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and specific, well-integrated examples for each point raised.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the positive aspects, then the negative aspects, and finally the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In positive way' or 'In contrast, it can also brings'. Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'they', 'this') is always clear would help to improve the flow and cohesion of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'international food items', 'nutrients', and 'economy'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'roam about the whole city' or 'compete the variety'. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to convey your points with greater sophistication and accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('some fruits was', 'mangoes was', 'it can also brings'), article usage ('the economy of country'), and awkward phrasing ('you not need to'). These errors are noticeable but do not typically impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to incorporate more complex structures with greater accuracy.
