Student answer (Band 6.0)

In a lot of countries in today's world, purchasers have access to a store that foods from all the part of the world is available in and i think this is a very good advancement in the sense that it helps to reduce stress and money and also it reduces time wasted.

Personally, having a retail outlet that has all the food someone wants, will benefit so many individuals because it will help buyers to get whatever they want without having to travel around to get what they want. More so, travelling to different countries or ordering it from another country, needs a lot of money in the world where we are in now that things are very expensive including the cost of traveling. When my uncle traveled to the United Kingdom from Nigeria , he was used to Nigeria foods so we always sent him foods because he did like the foods he saw there which costs more but now there are different places to get Nigeria foods there in the United Kingdom so we do not have to send him food again and it saved him a lot of money.

Furthermore, some of the times, food takes a lot of time before it gets the consumers so having places to buy in an different places in the world will save so much time. For instance, a friend of mine who stays in Canada usually go hungry for some days while he waits for his food from Nigeria to get to Canada before he will be able to eat so this kind of evolution will help him in a good way.

In conclusion, i think this is a great enhancement as it helps people to save time resources.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by arguing that the availability of global food is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and relies heavily on personal anecdotes rather than broader societal or economic analysis. While the position is clear, the arguments regarding 'saving time' and 'saving money' are not fully explored in a sophisticated manner. The essay covers the requirements of the task, but the depth of the arguments is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should aim to discuss the wider implications of global food trade, such as environmental impact or local economic support, rather than focusing solely on personal convenience.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'More so', 'In conclusion'). Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the transition between the uncle's experience and the general argument. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to connect ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'get whatever they want' and 'very good advancement'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'evolution' when referring to the availability of food, which is not the most appropriate term in this context. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'globalization', 'supply chain', 'consumer convenience') limits the score. Focus on learning collocations and more precise academic terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'foods from all the part of the world is available' (subject-verb agreement), 'Nigeria foods' (should be 'Nigerian'), and 'some of the times' (unnatural phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over more complex structures. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct adjective forms, and proofreading for basic grammatical slips.
