Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries, consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced worldwide. It has positives as well as negatives; overall, it is more of a positive development because people can now try things from their own country without visiting the native country of a particular product.

It is possible only because of technological advancements and government support. In ancient times, it was slightly problematic to export or import goods because of the high tax rates on exports; however, in the modern world, it is not an issue thanks to privatisation, globalisation and liberalised economies. For example, dates in India are mostly imported from Dubai and arab countries; I also eat one of those imported from the UAE, and it tastes better than those produced in my country. I prefer to eat imported ones. It gives us a variety of options; that's what plays a vital role. Nowadays, export is not something to worry about because container ships run 24/7 from one country to another. It has some limitations, such as if political and social relations between countries are not good, then import or export from a particular country can be dangerous for the reason that"everything is fair,in love and war" exports is not only demand sometimes it can be need also for example, India don't have enough tea to fulfill demand of public then it become necessity to import them.

consumers can go to supermarket and take any item which may be produced in other country is normal in modern world and it is going to be more convenient in future in the fact that world is running towars privatisation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the availability of global food products. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide a personal example regarding dates, the argument regarding political relations and 'necessity' is somewhat disjointed and lacks clear logical progression. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments are not fully extended. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point that directly supports your stance. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively summarize the main points or reinforce your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical or abrupt. For example, the transition from discussing technological advancements to the specific example of dates lacks a smooth link. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'however' and 'for example', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that makes the sentences feel disjointed. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the shift from economic factors to political risks is sudden. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence logically follows the previous one will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'privatisation', 'globalisation', and 'liberalised economies'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'try things from their own country without visiting the native country' (which contradicts the prompt) and 'everything is fair, in love and war'. Some expressions are imprecise, and there are minor errors in collocation. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices accurately reflect the intended meaning in a formal context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in ancient times', 'in modern world'), subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'India don't have'), and punctuation mistakes, such as the misuse of quotation marks and commas. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly regarding pluralization, articles, and verb tense consistency.
